MTG Phils trains SPCB, IS Montessori Math tutors

Dr. Emerio Sagusay, Board of Director for MTG, Phils, opens the two-day training-workshop for mathematics teachers, September 5, 2014 at St. Paul College of Bocaue.
No less than the President of the prestigious Mathematics Trainer's Guild, Philippines, Dr. Simon L. Chua, himself came to give a training to the Mathematics teachers of both St. Paul College of Bocaue and Integrated School of Montessori on September 5-6, 2014 at St. Paul College of Bocaue.

The two-day training-workshop for the Math teachers aims to provide advanced mathematics skills for them to be able to cascade these skills down to the enrollees for the MTG training from among the students who qualified after taking series of examinations.

All the HS students of SPCB took the qualifying examinations last month, together with some students from the I.S. Montessori in Igulot, Bocaue.

Sr. Maria Remedios R. Cayetano, SPC, Directress-HS Principal, spearheaded the move to inspire the students to excel in mathematics as she challenged them to dream for international mathematics competitions. She initiated the purchase of a number of reference books in calculus which shall be used to enrich the math curricular experience of students.

Dr. Roberto J. Degolacion, MTG Executive Director, was also among the trainers on the first day of the workshop. Together with them was Dr. Emerio Sagusay, one of the members of the Board of Directors of MTG, Philippines.

Another set of trainers was slated for the second day.

The MTG, Philippines is a non-stock, non-profit organization of mathematics teachers committed to develop and promote excellence in Mathematics education and training in the Philippines. Its website describes the organization as a guild that "institutionalizes excellence in mathematics education and training in the Philippines to upgrade the discipline to meet international standards and to provide the basis for scientific and technological manpower needed for the country’s education, modernization and industrialization."

The MTG Website further mentions that "MTG has almost 3 000 school-members and 40 training centers nationwide, from as far as Vigan City at the north, and General Santos City at the south. Future recruitment will be opened for public schools."
