SPCB boosts Internet access

Subscribing to a faster and more reliable Internet Service Provider (ISP) toward the end of May 2012, St. Paul College of Bocaue now offers better Internet access compared to the last seven years. The school is now connected to a dedicated 4 Mbps data access through the New World CATV, Inc. based in Valenzuela City.

To maximize the use of the new fast Internet connection, Mr. Ernesto U. Guillermo, Jr., the HS Academic Chair and Systems Administrator, provided interconnection from the High School Department to the Grade School Department and the Sisters' Convent.

Several wi-fi hotspots were also set up within the campus. The entire HS department has six wi-fi hotspots, one at the school canteen, one at the GS department, and two at the Sisters' Convent.

The service provider gave fast access to the school through a fiber optic cable from its main site in Valenzuela City to its sub-station in Balagtas, Bulacan. Data is sent to SPCB via a dedicated airborne antenna set up at the roof of the HS building.

The subscription fee, however, is over 16x higher than the former Digitel's DSL connection.

With the fast internet access, students and teachers alike, can surf and download faster the needed files for their academic use.

Sr. Bernadette Racadio, SPC, the School Directress and HS Principal, expressed elation at the much  improved Internet access.
